What a stunning Les Paul Custom from the Nashville Murphy Lab with a beautiful, aged finish that simulates years of light play and wear and which uses the best quality materials and wood. Ultra-light aging and high-quality feature detailing and components and in as new condition - a real joy. Gives the character, vibe, and feel of a Gibson golden era guitar!
The body is one-piece Mahogany with a two-piece Maple top and features include a solid mahogany neck, custom ’68 Humbucker pickups, and custom shop-aged hardware, Original tune-o-matic bridge which is in gold alongside gold finish ABR bridge stop bar.
The finish is exquisite as you would expect coming from Tom Murphy’s department, using a new nitrocellulose lacquer to recreate the checking that simulates years of play, so much effort goes into these it’s easy to see why they are produced in small quantities, and command a premium price.

What we think:-
It’s doubtful many will ever get to hold a genuine ’68 LP let alone play one, but this comes as close as it gets! The period-correct features combined with the Murphy Lab aging make this look every bit the real deal. With access to the genuine articles, Gibson has the advantage of recreating in painstaking detail exactly how a re-issue should look and play. Many think the Murphy Lab aging process adds something to the wood that provides an extra rich tone and we would tend to agree. There can be no doubting the authenticity of this re-issue, it speaks for itself. Prices are rising for these and you find many about either.
